New Zealand: Calls for Debt Mediation Bill as Farm Repossessed

The repossession of an Okato farm owing $5.6 million to Rabobank has sparked calls for a debt mediation bill to be passed in Parliament. Kelvin Gray was driven off the farm his family had worked on for seven generations when receivers moved in on Tuesday to collect the debt. NZ First primary industries spokesman Richard Prosser said the case highlighted the need for Parliament to consider introducing a Farm Debt Mediation Bill.
