Texas Supreme Court May Overturn Mediated Agreement

State law in Texas encourages the use of mediators.

Mediated settlements are less expensive, speedier and less stressful for children of a broken marriage. Texas state law gives little room for trial court judges to interfere after a mediated agreement.

However, in a particular case it was held that the mediated agreement was rejected for the reason that it was not for the best interest of the child.

The case was later appealed wherein it was contended the rejection of the agreement will operate to topple down the entire mediation system and its benefits for families across Texas.
