US: Mediation Could Speed Tax Appeals

Board of Revisions members county Commissioner Marilyn Brown, Auditor Clarence Mingo, and Treasurer Ed Leonard, have been working for more than three years to develop a first-of-its-kind mediation program for property-value complaints. The board developed the program with the Ohio Supreme Court’s dispute-resolution section. The three members of the board are expected to approve the program on Wednesday. The program is the first time the Supreme Court has worked with a public entity other than a court on a mediation project, and officials there hope it will become a model for the rest of the state.
